Abstract
Inclusive education is the practice of integrating students with special needs into regular classrooms among their non-disabled peers. Inclusive education aims to provide equal learning opportunities and provisions for all students regardless of their special abilities or disabilities. The present study examines the impact of inclusive education on the academic achievement of students with special needs, considering the benefits and drawbacks faced by such students under an inclusive learning system. Through a mixed-methods research design, this study compares the academic success of students placed in inclusive classes and students in traditional special education classes. The findings indicate that, if well implemented, inclusive education can lead to better academic success, better socialization, and better self-esteem for students with special needs. The study, however, demands appropriate teacher training, adequate resources, and support structures to render inclusive education programs effective. The policy and practice implications are put forth, with emphasis on the importance of an interdependent response to addressing the diverse needs of students with special needs.
