Abstract
Student-centered learning (SCL) is an educational approach that focuses on active involvement where students control their own learning process, eventually enhancing critical thinking as well as creativity. This research examines the benefits as well as limitations of adopting SCL, highlighting its potential to enhance primary cognitive skills, such as problem-solving, analytical thinking, and creative thinking. Based on a literature review, this article illustrates the positive impact of student-centered learning on students’ academic achievement as well as on students’ personal development. Moreover, the manuscript presents some guidelines on adopting SCL in learning environments, as well as the potential long-term benefits for students’ intellectual and emotional maturity. The results show that, despite the difficulties that its implementation poses, such as resistance to change and insufficient resources, the shift towards a student-centered system is inevitable to develop a more active and productive learning environment.
